The Launch of ‘Heaney at Queen’s’ Digital Exhibition

Special Collections and Archives at Queen’s Univesity Belfast are proud to release a very special curated digital collection “Heaney at Queen’s” in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry. This project was produced in close collaboration between the Library, the Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities, Professor Fran Brearton and Queen’s post-graduate researchers: Stephen Connolly, Manuela Moser, Caitlin Newby and Charlene Small. Special Collections is pleased to make this exhibit available at: Heaney at Queen’s for a limited time and to feature it on the interactive kiosk in the McClay Library. Special Collections & Archives at Queen’s University Belfast provides access to the Library’s rare and early printed book, map, and manuscript collections, as well as to more modern material relating to Ireland and Ulster in particular.This project combines insightful commentary and reflections relating to Seamus Heaney’s time at Queen’s University in a variety of guises: student, teacher, commentator and poet.[/one_half]

It features a collection of very special digital objects relating to Heaney’s time and has been developed using Omeka, state of the art software for sharing digital collections, developed at the Roy Rosenzweig Centre for New Media and History. We are very grateful for the contributions and participation of a wide variety of partners and warmly invite you to enjoy this exhibition.
RTE is also featuring a wide-ranging multimedia exhibition on the Life of Seamus Heaney.
