Speaking of Books … and Visualisation

I came across this rather pithy article recently on Piotr Kowalczyk‘s eBook Friendly blogsite. 10 amazing book visualizations provides examples of the most compelling and thought-provoking visualisations of ‘the book’ from the past few years. It happens to feature one of my more splashy favourites, Joanna Kamradt and Christian Tate’s Plot Lines, which I often feature in my own data visualisation talks. This one is well worth a quick read (if only for inspiration) for an exploration of different ways of ‘seeing’ the text, tapping into our visual cortex to add an entirely new dimension to our appreciation of th written word.
